"Missing the Podium by 0.001 Seconds"

🏆 Most Memorable Event or Biggest Challenge

2019 Age Group Nationals in Pleasant Point was my first attempt at AGNs. I had a “secret” goal to podium in the MW 40–44 category—and missed it by 0.001 seconds! That near miss was all the motivation I needed to train harder, faster, and stronger. Winning gold in 2020 was a massive thrill and reminded me that if you work hard at something, you’ll reap the rewards.

"Join a Club, Change Your World"

💡 Advice for New Racers

If you’re completely new to racing, join a local cycling club or community. That’s where you’ll learn vital peloton skills. We’re really lucky in Canterbury, with plenty of groups catering to all cycling levels—and the best part is, everyone’s keen to share their knowledge!

"TTs: The Race of Truth"

🔥 What Do You Love About Racing?

I’m a simple girl—I love time trials because it’s just you, your bike, and the clock. Nowhere to hide, and no one else to blame! Of course, I also adore the tactical side of road races: reading the peloton, deciding whether to chase, and juggling so many variables. And the war stories at the end? They’re always epic—especially once we start embellishing!

"Watch That Wheel"

🚀 Encouragement for New Racers

Hold your line and never overlap your wheel with the rider in front. Stay alert and remember to take on nutrition—you’ll need every bit of energy out there!

"If It’s Not on Strava…"

😂 Funny Race Memories

I’m notoriously hopeless with gadgets. After a brutal 80km MTB ride on trails I had no business being on, my Garmin refused to upload. I threw the world’s biggest tantrum because, let’s be honest, if it’s not on Strava, did it really happen?
